Lee & Associates Charleston

Retail Services Director

What?     I am proud to be Retail Services Director and manage the Landlord and Tenant Services platforms for Retail from the Charleston, SC office.  My Team’s primary focus is on institutional owner representation, marquis retailers and retail developer services.  Additionally, I specialize in tenant representation and advocate for a select group of marquis specialty retailers and best-in-class restaurants.  My skills range from Site Selection and market strategies for national and international retailers, acquisition of land for new build to suit store developments or existing buildings to purchase and renovate and the necessary Lease or Purchase Contract Documentation.

Where?     Geographically my Team specializes in retail throughout the Carolina markets as well as representing select clients throughout the Southeast.  We provide development services including site selection, entitlement, leasing and disposition selectively to clients. I also have special skills in “Special Asset Management” and disposition for the courts and financial institutions as well as individual developers and investors.

When?     Over 25 years of brokerage experience in the Southeast and specifically the Charleston area commercial real estate market provides my clients a very valuable experience.  I have closed over $1 Billion of retail transactions – that’s a big bag of experience to pull from!  I am from the Atlanta area where I began my commercial real estate career and hold licenses in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina as well as having earned the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member, CCIM Designation.

How?     Focus.  I am a retail expert, providing attentive, professional services throughout each phase of an investment’s Lifecycle. John has managed all processes and aspects of the development cycle from site selection, contract and lease negotiation, due diligence, entitlement, design, financing, property and asset management and dispositions.  I just do retail, not office space or industrial buildings and I would hire a realtor to sell my house – got it, JUST Retail.

What Else?     Social Media Nationally known as a leader in social media tactics and leveraging this tool to connect and promote business on a global level. I was voted one of the Ten Most Influential Online Commercial Real Estate People in 2013 and 2014 Top 100 Commercial Real Estate People You Must Follow On Twitter.  I promote commercial real estate at numerous speaking engagements. Other areas of expertise include bluegrass banjo pickin and fishing.
